Local search and AI visibility

SEO, AEO, and GEO
for Asheville businesses

Be understandable to Google and AI, without sounding like a machine.

Search engine optimization (SEO) makes a website easy for search engines to read and rank.

Answer engine optimization (AEO) makes a page easy for an AI answer to quote and cite.

Generative engine optimization (GEO) shapes the wider set of signals an AI uses to understand and recommend a business.

Local SEO is the foundation. AI visibility builds on it.

Local SEO helps Google understand where your business operates and what you offer. It also clarifies who you serve. AEO and GEO build on that foundation so AI systems can find the business and cite it in useful answers.

Your website has four audiences. Only one of them is human.

A person needs relevance and credibility. Google needs clear structure and local meaning. AI needs evidence it can quote, then a wider entity picture it can trust.

  1. 01

    Human

Is this business relevant and credible?

  2. 02

    Google

Can it understand the services on the site and their local relevance?

  3. 03

    AI citations

Are there clear, supported passages worth quoting?

  4. 04

    AI mentions

Do the available signals give AI enough evidence to understand and recommend the business?

The goal is for those signals to agree without turning the website into copy written for machines.

How do SEO, AEO, and GEO fit together?

Brand identity runs through all three. This is one service, not three disconnected acronyms.

01 / SEO

The foundation

Can systems read the business correctly?

Technical and on-page structure, local SEO, schema, crawlability, and internal linking.

02 / AEO

The answer layer

Is there a clear answer worth citing?

Direct answers, useful question-shaped headings, and passages that are supported well enough to quote.

03 / GEO

The authority layer

Is there enough evidence to recommend it?

Content and entity signals that help generative systems understand and recommend the business.

Brand identity is the through-line. It gives every layer the same business to understand.

Does SEO still matter?

Yes. SEO is still the foundation for being found, cited, and recommended.

Read Google still needs a clear account of the business, its services, and its local relevance.

Cite A page can shape an AI answer even when it does not produce a visible click.

Recognize Current, consistent information helps search and AI reconcile what a business says about itself with what they find elsewhere.

When scope is limited, the first priority follows the business, not a generic checklist.

What does an AI visibility analysis check?

I use AI-assisted tools I built to inspect how search engines and AI systems interpret a business: citability, entity signals, structured data, technical foundations, platform readiness, and consistency across the signals AI can find.

Each paid analysis includes a custom visibility dashboard and prioritized plan.

What should I know before hiring an SEO consultant?

How do I know whether SEO is the right first priority?
Start by identifying what is actually limiting visibility. A business may need stronger local signals, clearer service pages, better technical foundations, more citable answers, or a combination. The visibility report identifies visible problems; the paid assessment sequences what to address first.
Do you provide local SEO for Asheville businesses?
Yes, when it is the right first priority. That may include service-area relevance and accurate business information. I also check Google Business Profile, listing consistency and schema, then clarify service pages where needed. It is part of the broader visibility work, not a disconnected monthly checklist.
Do I need a new website to improve SEO or AI visibility?
Usually, no. Many improvements can be made to the existing site: clearer page structure, better service language, accurate business information, technical fixes, and useful supporting content. A redesign is only worth considering when the current site cannot support the business clearly enough.
Can AI show outdated information about my business?
Yes. AI systems can repeat an old address or service description. They may even be unsure whether a business is active when the available signals conflict or have not caught up. Consistent information across your site and listings reduces that risk.
Do I need to publish a lot of content to appear in search or AI answers?
No. Content is one part of a visibility strategy, not an automatic first step. For some businesses, the better first priority is local relevance, technical structure, service-page clarity, or correcting conflicting information. New content should earn its place by answering a real buyer question.
